Hornets

*The Hornet division is a beginner division. Once a driver has accumulated five (5) wins in one year that driver will be removed from the division at the season end. Must be a minimum of 14 years of age to compete in the Hornet Division.

1. Any four-cylinder car with a maximum wheel base of 106” and complete stock body, interior, frame and suspension. No bracing anywhere except drivers compartment. Four cylinder engine may be port fuel injected, have an overhead cam. For 2010, Acura Integras, Toyota Celicas, are allowed. No Mazda RX7’s.
2. All insulation under hood MUST be removed. All combustible materials removed from inside of car.
3. Stock carburetor or fuel injection. Stock carburetor with two return springs.
4. Stock transmission for make and model.
5. Stock manifold with at least two foot of stock pipe. (No headers)
6. Battery must be securely fastened.
7. Stock unaltered drive axle for make and model.
8. Any DOT street legal tire permitted. 8-1/2” sidewall to sidewall max.
9. Gas tank may remain in stock location if positioned in front of rear axle. If stock tank is behind rear axle it must be replaced with fuel cell or six-gallon boat tank. Boat tank or fuel cell MUST be covered, secured, and located in the trunk area.
10. Roll bars will be MANDATORY. Must run a minimum of one – 1 ¾” hoop roll bar with at least one cross brace or two 3 ½” pipes with steel plated on both ends bolted or welded to roof and floor with at least one cross brace.
11. Roll cage must be braced and securely constructed. Must be made of seamless steel tubing and welded and braced to protect the driver in a roll over.
12. Drivers door must be welded closed. Driver door protection will be mandatory. Driver door protection may be door bars inside car or steel reinforcement outside the door.
13. All glass must be cleanly removed. Factory windshield may be left in, if in good condition.
14. Third brake-light is optional.
15. Minimum helmet is a Snell 2005 helmet, four point harness REQUIRED. fire retardant long sleeved racing suit REQUIRED, Gloves, neck collar, driving shoes, long underwear and head sock will be highly RECOMMENDED.
16. Window net is REQUIRED.
17. Numbers must be 20” tall on doors and 36” on roof. NO DUPLICATE NUMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED. IF A LETTER IS USED, THE LETTER MUST BE FULL SIZED, OR CAR WILL NOT BE SCORED. All numbers must be legible. Number follows driver.
18. Drivers must be at least 14 years of age.
19. Any car not covered in these rules that appears to have direct advantage will be removed from the division.
20. No rear view mirrors allowed.
